George Springer has been the Blue Jays’ unofficial MVP in 2025, a remarkable comeback year for the 36-year-old who nearly quintupled his Wins Above Replacement this season.
His status for Game 7 is not guaranteed.
He was hit square on the right kneecap by a 95 mph pitch in Friday’s Game 5 and received treatment the next day. Yesterday, in Game 6, Springer led off but had a few painful-looking moments and ended the night with a walk and nothing more.
After the game, John Schneider said Springer is good to go.
“He’s as good as you can be doing on, tomorrow’s October 20th at 36 years old getting hit in the knee and battling everything,” Schneider said. “His at-bats, he grinded. They were good. He didn’t get a hit, but it kind of just sets the tone for what we’re trying to do.”
