Sault Ste. Marie MPP Chris Scott said he plans on returning to the Ontario legislature Tuesday.

The legislature returned to action after the extended summer break on Monday. The legislature rose on June 5. It is now scheduled to sit for 28 days in which the Conservative Ford government plans to introduce new measures to prop up the province’s economic uncertainty created by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada.

The economic uncertainty of Sault Ste. Marie is also in limbo as Algoma Steel struggles in its quest to find new markets to replace American orders on its order books. The impact will also likely stretch to the steelmaker’s suppliers and contractors as it scales back on its discretionary spending.
