It was another busy weekend of girls’ basketball action in Timmins, as the 33rd annual Sister Fay Edmunds Tournament of Excellence, hosted by O’Gorman High School, was held across the city. Article content

Schools from across northern Ontario competed, seven in the senior division, and eight in the junior division, over the two-day event with the finals taking place on Saturday at O’Gorman High, with Timmins High & Vocational School, as well O’Gorman Intermediate School serving as venues in the round robin. In the senior division finals, the Timiskaming District Secondary School Saints (from New Liskeard) defeated the Englehart High School Spartans 54-35.

In the junior division, the championship was won by the St. Benedict’s Catholic Secondary School
