California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) accused the White House of risking people’s lives over a planned celebration of the Marine Corps in the state.

Newsom’s office closed portions of Interstate 5 in California on Saturday for safety reasons due to the Marines firing off live ammunition over the highway as part of an event commemorating its 250th anniversary. President Donald Trump’s administration mocked Newsom for his decision, saying that there were “no public safety” concerns over the training practices.
