AKWESASNE — Down 0-4, the Akwesasne Wild would not be tamed.
The new Norther Premier Hockey League team earned its first ever win on Saturday evening, as the Wild scored seven unanswered goals to turn aside the visiting Arnprior Rivermen 7-4 at A’nowara’ko:wa Arena.
Wild head coach Jamie Lavigne agreed it was matter of time before his players would be rewarded when noting the Wild had double the shots on goal than their opponent.
“Obviously, it was a tough first period,” said Wild forward Chris Newhook, who has rejoined the league after a season in a Quebec senior loop.
