[INDIANA] (WLFI) — A total of 100 rural and volunteer fire departments from 54 counties in Indiana have received grants from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The 2024 Volunteer Fire Assistance grants were awarded to several local fire departments, including Galveston Volunteer Fire Department and Twelve Mile First Responders in Cass County. In Clinton County, Forest Volunteer Fire Department, Kirklin Volunteer Fire Department, and Michigan Township Volunteer Fire Department received grants.
These grants will be used for training, radios, and purchasing firefighting equipment and gear to combat wildland fires. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry administers these grants, which are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
