A high-stakes White House press event briefly turned into a comedy of errors when US President Donald Trump paused mid-sentence to reprimand a cameraman who accidentally bumped into a 400-year-old mirror in the Cabinet Room.

Trump, seated beside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, was discussing a new $8.5 billion critical minerals deal when the clatter caught his attention.

"We’re here to talk about trade, submarines, lots of other military equipment," Trump began, before suddenly stopping. "Oh, you got to watch that. Watch that. You’re not allowed to break that. That mirror is 400-years-old. A camera just hit the mirror. Ay yay yay!"
