For a long eight years, Penn-Trafford was the team to beat in Class 2A.
Last season, the Warriors were dethroned in the WPIAL championship title game by Peters Township. It was a first for the program in a long time. Now, this season, Penn-Trafford is experiencing another first: not qualifying for the playoffs.
But, despite the results, coach Cindy Dutt is thrilled to see the sport of field hockey growing across Western Pennsylvania.
“We’re doing everything we can to grow the sport, so, yes, on one hand it’s disappointing to not make the playoffs, but on the other hand, it’s great to see other programs growing,” Dutt said. “Class 2A was unbelievably even this year. The parity was incredible. We had a lot of overtime results this year.”
