A south suburban man was arrested on a slew of charges after leading Indiana state troopers on a pursuit that reached speeds of 150 miles per hour, authorities said.

According to law enforcement, an Indiana State Police trooper was on patrol at approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday along Interstate 80 near Burr Street in Gary when he observed two vehicles that appeared to be racing and "traveling at an extreme high rate of speed."

The driver of one of the vehicles, which had been clocked at 136 miles per hour, refused to stop, police said. the speed limit in the area is 55 miles per hour.

After refusing to pull over, the driver turned off the vehicle's headlights and at one point sped up to 150 miles per hour before continuing the chase on Interstate 65, police stated. The suspect eventually
