Folk icon Joan Baez surprised demonstrators in San Francisco by performing a protest song during Saturday’s “No Kings Day” demonstrations, part of nationwide rallies that drew millions expressing frustration with the Trump administration, Parade reports.
The 83-year-old singer, known for her six-decade career as an activist and humanitarian, performed “Gracias A La Vida (Here’s to Life)”, a Chilean folk song originally written by Violeta Parra.
Her performance came during a weekend when organizers estimated that roughly seven million people took part in the protests across the country. Video of the performance was shared on social media.
