Beyond severe weather and winter's bitter cold, there's one other thing that we talk about frequently in KELOLAND weather: Wind. From gentle breezes to wind related headlines, it's an inescapable part of daily life around here. But what if I told you there's another way to measure the wind that's more than just miles per hour?

We know about the Saffir-Simpson and Enhanced Fujita scales, which talk about hurricane and tornado wind speeds respectively. There's another wind scale out there that is reserved for what we see on a day-to day basis. This is the Beaufort Scale.
