During the year that free doses of the overdose-reversal drug naloxone have been publicly available at five Red Line stops, none appear to have been put into use at the stations, the MBTA said in a report to the Legislature this month.

With $95,000 from the fiscal year 2024 budget, the T last summer made cabinets with doses of naloxone (also known by the brand name Narcan) available at Quincy Center, Ashmont, Andrew, South Station and Harvard along with signage in English, Spanish and Chinese on how to recognize an opioid overdose, how to administer Narcan, and how to contact emergency assistance.
