PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Crews at Phoenix Zoo won’t let last week’s powerful storm get in the way of its dazzling holiday celebration this year.

The ZooLights light tunnel and the iconic 50-foot-tall Lake Lights Tree were damaged in a microburst on Oct. 13 .

The digital floating tree toppled and fell into the lake it sat on, according to zoo officials, but on Sunday, crews used a crane to remove it from the lake and place it in an open field for restoration.

Zoo officials say this will not impact guests’ visits to the zoo, but instead, it gives a close-up look at how clean-up is done behind the scenes.
