JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - The ongoing government shutdown is one of the longest in U.S. history.
Now in its 20th day, only two other shutdowns have lasted longer.
On Monday, the Senate voted on the Republican-backed plan to reopen the government, but once again, the proposal failed to get the 60 votes required to pass as Democrats push for an extension of healthcare tax credits.
Meanwhile, as the shutdown continues, thousands of federal employees are going to work everyday, not knowing when they will see another pay day.
