CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The Cincinnati Preservation Association says it can no longer afford the upkeep and maintenance of the Powell Crosley Jr. mansion in Mt. Airy and is looking to sell the property.
A prospective buyer wants to convert the mansion into a boutique hotel and rooftop bar. The private residence of Powell Crosley Jr. is currently used as an event center to host weddings.
Crosley was a pioneer of broadcasting in Cincinnati who lived in the mansion until his death in 1961. Much of the mansion has been preserved since he lived there.
Historic features remain intact
“The interior still has magnificent fabric with original Wheatley tile, original woodwork,” said Beth Johnson of the Cincinnati Preservation Association.
