The more experience he gains during his rookie season, Titans quarterback Cam Ward appears to be learning that the simplest pass is often the best pass.
In Sunday’s loss to New England, Ward totaled season highs for passes to running backs (10), completions to running backs (nine) and passing yardage gained by running backs (61 yards).
It seems no coincidence that Ward also finished the day with his best quarterback rating (92.2) and best completion rate (73.5 percent) of the year.
In addition, Ward’s 14 first downs via the passing game were a season best, as was — surprisingly enough — his yards per pass attempt (7.5).
