KENNEWICK, Wash. – Benton County Commissioner William McKay Jr. was arrested following a road rage incident, according to Kennewick police.

Police said McKay reported another driver’s behavior and gestures before following the man to a business at Highway 395 and Clearwater. The man accused McKay of bear hugging him, taking his phone and deleting a video.

A witness told McKay they were calling the police, prompting McKay to leave the scene. He was later arrested for second-degree theft for taking the phone but released after posting bond.

McKay appeared in court for a preliminary hearing, though an arraignment date has not been set. Kennewick Police Department stated that the investigation remains ongoing and encouraged anyone with information to contact them.
