The moments after Australia’s ambassador to the US Kevin Rudd was publicly blasted by US President Donald Trump have been revealed.

The US leader had stated he did not “know anything about” Mr Rudd, despite him being seated across the table from him during the meeting on Tuesday (Australian time).

Mr Albanese awkwardly pointed at Mr Rudd, before Trump said to the US ambassador “I don’t like you either. And I probably never will”.

It has since been revealed that the US President and the Prime Minister discussed Mr Rudd being a “nice guy” following Trump’s earlier remarks.

Trump had reportedly asked Mr Albanese about the Australian diplomat as media left the meeting.

“Is this the guy?” Trump reportedly said, pointing at Mr Rudd.

“He seems like a nice guy”.
