BOSTON (WPRI) — The former Massachusetts State Trooper who led the Karen Read investigation has given up the fight to get his job back.
Michael Proctor filed a notice with the Massachusetts Civil Service Commission over the weekend, saying he was withdrawing his appeal.
His attorney told the Boston Globe they made the decision following "disclosures made available to our office on Friday," but did not elaborate.
Proctor was originally relieved of his duties just hours after a judge declared a mistrial in the case of Karen Read.
The Trial Board found Proctor guilty of unsatisfactory performance and consuming alcoholic beverages while on the job, state police said.
