Police are investigating whether a fire at a derelict university building in Warrington was started deliberately.
The blaze broke out on the first floor at the former University of Chester Padgate campus on Sunday night. Firefighters were called to the scene on Crab Lane at 6.40pm.
In a witness appeal today (Tuesday) police said an investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing, but it is believed that it may have been started deliberately.
Insp Chris Webster said: "Our investigation into the cause of the fire is in its early stages but we believe it may have been a deliberate ignition. Therefore, we are asking anyone who witnessed anything suspicious around the time of the incident to get in touch with us.
