CROSSLAKE — Crosslake Community School welcomed visitors to highlight its Farm to School program Friday, Oct. 10, bringing in Mayor Jackson Purfeerst and state Rep. Ben Davis, R-Mission Township, to share lunch with students enjoying hamburgers, corn on the cob, apples and salad.

Much of the meal was provided by Minnesota growers.

"The Farm to Table concept that we were able to participate in on Friday at Crosslake Community School is good for all parties involved," Purfeerst said. "It provides the highest and freshest nutrition possible for students, provides a constant and stable income flow for community farmers, and provides education and visually appealing food, making eating healthy foods 'cool.' I’m a big proponent and supporter of this program. It was great to learn about it."
