LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Jefferson County Republican Party's Executive Committee voted unanimously to nominate Calvin Leach as its candidate for the Kentucky State Senate District 37 special election , according to a release.
Leach will face Democratic nominee Gary Clemons. The election, which will take place Dec. 16 for residents in District 37, is to replace former State Sen. David Yates, D-Louisville, who was recently sworn in as Jefferson County Clerk after last month's death of Bobbie Holsclaw.
Leach is a lifelong resident of Louisville's South End and grew up in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood. He is a graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School and attended the University of Louisville, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish and a master's degree in political scien
