US Vice-President JD Vance arrived in Israel on Tuesday with his wife, Usha Vance, as Washington works to keep the fragile Gaza ceasefire in place and move talks between Israel and Hamas to the next phase.
Vance’s visit comes as US President Donald Trump ’s 20-point ceasefire plan faces its first major test. The plan includes commitments from both sides on issues such as Hamas disarmament and steps towards a Palestinian state, which remain unresolved.
Who he’s meeting
Vance is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem on Wednesday. He is also holding talks with US Middle East envoy
