Budget supermarket chain Lidl has unveiled ambitious plans to open a number of new outlets - with at least 10 planned on Teesside. The German retailer is seeking to establish stores in over a thousand locations throughout the country - details of which have been included in the company's Autumn 2025 "site requirements brochure".

The document declares: "Lidl has ambitious plans to open hundreds of new stores across Great Britain. This means we are looking to acquire sites that meet our standard store format requirements."

Whilst certain identified locations represent potential relocations, the overwhelming majority of the 1,169 targeted areas would mark fresh territory for Lidl, reports Chronicle Live . Proposals include at least 10 in Teesside and more further afield.
