The parents of a baby boy who has mitochondrial disease have shared his story in a bid to raise vital awareness of the rare illness.
Ezra Fletcher, who will turn 2 in December, was diagnosed with the complex and life-limiting condition earlier this year. His parents said he was happy and appeared healthy up until he was around seven months old.
Concerns began when Ezra developed a severe case of bronchitis and caught croup. His health visitor also noticed he had stopped reaching his milestones.
His mum Laura Mattinson 33, said concerns were also raised when during his vaccinations near his first birthday he 'didn't cry or flinch'. Medics noticed his head size was too large as he also kept tilting it to one side.
