A teenager was sexually assaulted on a bus in Hartlepool sparking a police probe. The incident happened on the number 3 or 3A bus in the town's Jesmond Gardens at around 2pm on Tuesday, July 23, but the teen has only summoned the courage to report it.

As soon as the youth sat down, a man moved from the seat he was sat in to the one next to the teen. He engaged in conversation and then touched the victim inappropriately.

This led to the youngster getting off the bus on Easington Road before the intended stop.

The suspect is described as:

white,

aged in his mid to late 50's,

of a chubby build

with short, straight and black greying hair,

a brown beard with grey in it,

wearing a light green t-shirt with a logo on the chest, black shorts and white trainers.
