The Ecumenical Leadership Council will honor Twinnette Johnson, the first Black woman to serve as dean of St. Louis University School of Law, during its annual Black-Tie Ball on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel.
Before joining SLU Law last year, Johnson served as dean, interim dean and professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia’s David A. Clarke School of Law.
Her earlier professional experience includes a clerkship at the Missouri Supreme Court with Judge W. Duane Benton and a position as an associate attorney at Shearman and Sterling LLP, a New York-based law firm. There, she practiced in the Bank Finance group, representing financial institutions and corporations in financing transactions.
