Seven cases of burn injuries reported at PGI on Diwali night

Chandigarh, October 21, 2025:

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, received seven cases of burn injuries related to firecrackers during Diwali celebrations.

According to the Department of Plastic Surgery, three patients suffered hand injuries caused by crackers bursting in their hands, while one patient sustained facial burns from similar incidents. All four were operated upon in the Advanced Trauma Centre (ATC).

Another patient sustained minor thermal burns affecting less than three percent of the body and was discharged after treatment.
