PALOS PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A suburban police department was surprised with an unsual thank you note.

The Village of Palos Park police got a kind note from a speeder who was ticketed.

The note praises the officer for kindness and professionalism, and the driver promises to slow down.

"Compliments like this don't come around very often (especially after issuing a ticket), and we truly appreciate when members of our community take a moment to recognize the professionalism of our officers," Chief Joe Miller said. "A big thank you to this gentleman for going out of his way to let us know his thoughts."
