ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Across the country, foodbanks are warning about the impacts of SNAP and other food benefit programs possibly ending on November 1. Now, it could become harder for them to know exactly how much food is need to meet an estimated demand.

“I can tell what’s happening without even turning on the news because we can tell here at the center by the uptick of individuals who are coming weekly to get free groceries,” said Dr. Marty K. Casey, founder of the Ungun Institute which operates in St. Louis.

It’s now day 21 of the government shutdown, and food experts across the state are worried that family need for foodbank support will only continue to grow.
