YOUNGSTOWN A jury has been seated in the trial of the mother of a 7-year-old boy who died after he was shot in Youngstown.

The jury was seated on Tuesday in the trial of 31-year-old Marquaysha Driver, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter, as well as four counts of endangering children.

The charges stem from the shooting death of Devonte Housely Jr. in Driver's home back in October of 2023. Police originally described the shooting as accidental, but an indictment later alleged that Driver was responsible for Housely's death.

Driver's trial had been delayed numerous times, with it originally being set to take place in May of 2024. It was later delayed to November of 2024, then January of 2025 and then August of 2025, before officially beginning October 20.
