A Projet Montréal candidate is defending his work with the local Israeli consulate after Ensemble Montréal’s Soraya Martinez Ferrada brought attention to it during a mayoral debate Monday evening.

In a lengthy social media post published Tuesday, Jonathan Burnham, a borough councillor candidate in the Sud-Ouest, acknowledged he served as the consulate’s director of cultural affairs from 2016 to 2023.
