WASHINGTON — OpenAI is expanding its reach with the launch of ChatGPT Atlas , a new web browser that integrates ChatGPT directly into a user’s internet search engine.
According to OpenAI, Atlas is designed to act as a “super-assistant” that understands what users are doing online and can help complete tasks without needing to switch tabs or copy and paste. The browser includes built-in ChatGPT memory and an “agent mode” that allows the AI to take limited actions for users, such as researching topics, booking appointments or summarizing websites.
Users will see a split-screen layout, with their webpage on one side and ChatGPT on the other, so that Atlas can actively summarize or explain what users are seeing.
