The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 548 is requesting the public's help in identifying a driver who hit a firefighter and drove away.

The group said it happened just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to a Facebook post.

The firefighter was working for TSR Tree Service at the time, doing tree removal duty off of Skycrest Drive. A car hit the firefighter and drove away. The Local 548 said that the firefighter was wearing a helmet, which they believe likely saved his life. The firefighter, Michael Rhodes, was taken to the hospital.

Dan Fox, the owner of TSR, said Rhodes was in the ICU as of Tuesday afternoon.

"This affects all of us a lot because we don’t want anybody getting hurt at this job or the fire job," Fox said.
