NORFOLK, Va. — It's National Teen Driver Safety Week, a nationwide initiative aimed at preparing young drivers to take the wheel safely.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car crashes remain a leading cause of death for teens ages 15 to 18 across the U.S. In Virginia alone , more than 17,000 crashes last year involved teen drivers.
“Really, what it comes down to is giving them all the knowledge so they are prepared to encounter anything out there on the roads,” said Ryan Adcock with AAA Tidewater.
Adcock emphasized that the learning process shouldn't stop once a teen earns their license.
