The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday an emergency referendum vote regarding name, image, and likeness that will go to each of its member schools.

This comes after a Franklin County judge issued a 45-day temporary restraining order against the OHSAA on Monday in response to a lawsuit filed by a student-athlete regarding NIL. The emergency vote will occur sometime during the 45-day window.

The OHSAA Board of Directors will meet Thursday to determine voting dates. Each member high school has one vote, which will be cast by the school’s principal.

Following Thursday’s meeting, the OHSAA will announce the proposed bylaw language for NIL and the voting timeframe for the referendum.
