CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Capitol building remained closed Tuesday as multiple law enforcement agencies continue to investigate reports of a suspected improvised explosive device on the Capitol complex.

To that end, the Wyoming Highway Patrol is “seeking information that will aid investigators,” according to a Tuesday evening update from the agency. “If any suspicious activity was seen or recorded in the early morning hours of October 21st, please contact DCI (Division of Criminal Investigation).”

The building was evacuated shortly after 10 a.m. when officials received reports of a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) near the building. Authorities also issued a shelter-in-place warning for people working in the nearby East and West Herschler buildings
