KR Puram residents say crores of rupees spent to restore all lakes in their area, but sewage inflow, encroachment, fencing troubles persist

Several lakes in the KR Puram assembly constituency are in a poor state despite crores of rupees spent on their development under BBMP grants. Residents say most of these lakes continue to stink and remain polluted as untreated sewage water continues to flow into them through the rajakaluves (stormwater drains). Many lakes are also suffering from encroachments, incomplete fencing, and poor maintenance.

Residents and lake activists from the area have raised repeated complaints with local authorities, but little has been done to restore these lakes. They have now written to the Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
