LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A Louisville man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say they found over a dozen dogs living in ‘extremely poor conditions’ while they were executing a search warrant on an unrelated investigation.
Louisville police said officers were assisting SWAT with the warrant in the 2500 block of Rowan Street, which is in the Portland neighborhood, on Oct. 21. While officers were on an unrelated investigation, they were aware of dogs at the location and had Louisville Metro Animal Services and LMPD’s Animal Cruelty Enforcement Unit during the operation.
According to LMPD, during the search, they found 19 dogs in poor condition, including some with severe flea infestations, visible tumors and signs of malnourishment.
