BEVERLY HILLS – A cold, rainy night at Country Day School was the setting for a MHSAA Division 3 boys’ soccer regional semifinal matchup between Grosse Ile and Imlay City.
Grosse Ile a week prior collected an incredible 17th straight district championship in the sport by virtue of a 3-0 win over Ida. Imlay meanwhile has been a model of consistency in their own right in recent years, earning their sixth straight district crown with a 4-1 win over BWAC rival Croswell-Lexington last week.
A high-energy, hard-fought game on both sides took all 80 minutes to decide but in the end, it was the No. 6-ranked Red Devils from Grosse Ile surviving and advancing through in the state tournament thanks to a slim 1-0 win over the Spartans from Imlay.
“Like, it wasn’t the prettiest game, by all means,”
