Roswell City Manager Chad Cole said last week that recovery from the October 2024 storm and flood will take several years.

Depending on one’s location within the flood areas, the probability of that much flooding is considered an event occurring once every 500 years or once every 1,000 years. The state and federal governments both declared it a disaster.

The National Weather Service reported nearly six inches of rainfall at the Roswell Air Center on Oct. 19, 2024, with some nearby areas reporting up to nine inches within a few hours.
