The 2025-26 Celtics, who open their season Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden, can be described in two words.

The first: “unproven.” Brad Stevens used that one – over and over again – at the outset of training camp to describe Boston’s current roster, which swapped out half of its established, championship-winning rotation for a crew of untested or overlooked newcomers.

Including the rehabbing Jayson Tatum, who will miss at least the next several months while he recovers from Achilles surgery, the five players the Celtics lost this offseason boast a combined 14 NBA All-Star appearances. Their replacements (Anfernee Simons, Josh Minott, Luka Garza, Chris Boucher and Hugo Gonzalez) have zero.
