Ahmedabad civic body okays Rs 21.55 crore plan for repairs of three key bridges October 22, 2025

Ahmedabad: The standing committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a Rs 21.55 crore plan for the maintenance of three of the city’s aging bridges — Gandhi Bridge, Sardar Bridge, and Parikshitlal Majmudar Bridge.

The approved work includes lifting 89 spans — 38 of Gandhi Bridge, 48 of Sardar Bridge, and 3 of Parikshitlal Majmudar Bridge — and replacing the elastomeric bearings. Following the Gambhira Bridge tragedy on July 9, the state government instructed inspections of all city bridges and mandated necessary repairs.
