The Everett Silvertips continued their blistering start to the Western Hockey League season with back-to-back wins over the weekend in their Okanagan swing, defeating the Penticton Vees 5-2 on Friday and edging the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 on Saturday.

With the victories, Everett improved to 9-0-1 on the season — the best record in the WHL — and now sit atop the Western Conference with 19 points, narrowly ahead of the Edmonton Oil Kings (9-2-0), who have played one fewer game.

Silvertips head coach Steve Hamilton praised his team’s resilience and maturity over the weekend, especially in Saturday’s tightly contested matchup against the Rockets.
