The cost of rent in Newfoundland and Labrador continues to go up, albeit just a little under the national average.
Statistics Canada says the price of rent went up by 4.5 per cent in Canada on a year-over-year basis last month. In this province, the increase was at four per cent.
That lands Newfoundland and Labrador around the middle of the pack of all provinces. Rent increases rose even more steeply in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Saskatchewan. PEI was the only province to experience a decline in the cost of rent.
