Regarding the violence perpetrated by certain protesters at the weekend rally, and suggestions there be conditions placed on where and how protests can occur, a correspondent (Letters, 22/10) noted Premier Jacinta Allan’s claim that ″⁣the police had the tools they needed to deal with protesters″⁣. Others might observe that when police are virtually ambushed and deliberately targeted, resulting in injury and hospitalisation, it’s questionable whether they do have the tools they need.
