U.S. Secret Service officers arrested a man after he allegedly drove his car into a security checkpoint outside the White House, authorities said.

The incident occurred Tuesday, Oct. 21, around 10:40 p.m. at a checkpoint on the west side of the White House complex, according to the Secret Service.

No injuries were reported and the Secret Service did not release the man's name. The agency did not say whether they believe it was intentional, nor did they discuss a possible motive.

"The individual was immediately arrested by U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers, and the vehicle was assessed by Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and deemed safe," the Secret Service said in a statement to multiple news outlets.

It added, "Additional information will be provided upon conclusion of the investigation."

Images from the scene show authorities inspect the dark-colored car with a bomb detection robot.
