NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- A fugitive was recently arrested in connection with drug charges out of Newport News, police said.
According to officials, on Friday, Oct. 17 just after 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Jefferson Avenue in an attempt to apprehend a known fugitive.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers stated the suspect, 33-year-old Elizabeth Torres Chiriguaya, did not comply and attempted to evade arrest.
Police said that eventually, Chiriguaya was detained and charged with possession of schedule I/II drugs and obstructing justice. In addition, she was also served with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a felony offense.
