The state of Tennessee cannot fund local Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) agencies due to the government shutdown.
Bradley Cleveland Community Services Agency says the shutdown resulted in Tennessee not being awarded the 2026 LIHEAP.
Eligible applicants will be put on a waiting list until Tennessee has access to federal funds.
The agency says households are encouraged to complete their application online.
However, they add that local LIHEAP agencies may start accepting LIHEAP applications electronically on November 3.
