DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A pedestrian has died after being hit on Lawrenceville Highway on Wednesday morning, police said, in what appears to have been a hit-and-run.

11Alive's Doug Turnbull reports it happened a little before 7:30 a.m. near the intersection with Orion Drive.

Around 8:30 a.m., Georgia Department of Transportation cameras in the area showed numerous police vehicles still on scene as traffic was moving eastbound through one far right lane.

It is not fully clear what happened in the collision. DeKalb Police said:

We are investigating what appears to be a hit and run involving a pedestrian near the area of Lawrenceville Hwy and Hollywood Lane. Unfortunately, the person has died from their injuries. This is currently being investigated by our Traffic Specialist Unit so that is
